Offering helpful advice on cleaning faux wood blinds
Cleaning faux wood blinds is often easier than real wood blinds. They can be wiped with a dry, soft cloth or occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment should keep them clean. For heavier soil build-up a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergent mixed with warm water can be used. To prevent scratching or damage to the blind surface, do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents.
They are much more forgiving than real wood blinds when it comes to water and you can even use a mild detergent to clean them. This is especially handy for those who like the bright whites. Cleaning faux wood blinds you can get the entire slat clean by tilting the blinds at a 45 degree angle first one way then the other. Closing the blinds completely may leave areas unexposed and therefore they would not be cleaned. To reduce static on fauxwood blinds wipe the blind with dryer sheet.
When cleaning faux wood blinds the cloth tapes can be cleaned by fabric cleaning wipes. This will typically not leave a stain or discolor the tapes, but we do suggest testing fabric cleaning wipes first on the underneath side of the blind where any stain would not be visible. 100% polyester tapes can be spot-cleaned with cool distilled water using a clean white cloth. Woolite® can also be used on the cloth tapes. If the cloth tapes have a shiny or luster look it is probably made of rayon or acetate and water should not be used as it will stain these tapes. Always check with the manufacturer of your blinds as to their recommendations for cleaning.
