Offering helpful hints on cleaning mini blinds
Cleaning mini blinds
should be done on a regular basis. Use an ordinary soft, clean dust cloths, or vacuum cleaner brush attachments. The paint surface of the slats is quite smooth and dust is easily brushed off if done at regular intervals. To vacuum, use the brush dust head attachment and tilt the slats up, then down (but not entirely exposed) to reach the entire top and bottom surfaces. To dust, use a soft clean cloth or chemically treated dust cloth and tilt the slats as above.
Cleaning mini blinds
will include washing if dirt and grime has built up. First, vacuum your mini blinds while they’re still hanging. You can also use a naturally electrostatically-charged wool duster. Next, remove the blinds from the windows. This is best done by raising the blind, locking it in position, and removing it from its holder.Lay one blind in the bathtub, open to its full extension with slat either up or down, as you prefer. Cover the blind with warm water to which you’ve added grease cutting dish detergent. Follow the detergent manufacturer’s advice as to the amount. Let the blind soak for 5 minutes. Wearing an old pair of cotton gloves, start washing each individual slat with your fingers. This allows you to clean both sides at the same time.
If the water is not too dirty you can use it for another blind. Lift the blind clear of the water, turn on your shower, and rinse the blind well. Lay it on a towel, and using another towel, blot dry. When the blind is completely dry spray it lightly with Static Guard, or bunch up some cheap softener sheets and run them across the slats. This will prevent the blinds from attracting dust, dirt, and hair. Re-hang the blind.Regularly cleaning mini blinds will keep them looking new.
